Creating Prepaid UPS Labels & USPS Shipping Labels in Paypal

On of the most valuable features at PayPal is the ability to automatically create a shipping label for either UPS or the United States Postal Service using a direct link in your PayPal transaction list. Simply log into your PayPal account, review your account history, and look for the print shipping label button in the action column that describes the eBay/PayPal payment transaction. After you click the payment shipping label button, choose between the United States Postal Service or United Parcel Service UPS then click the continue button.

Whether you choose UPS or USPS, the next screen will lie you to confirm the recipients purchase information, your address, the recipient address, and the type of delivery service you would like to use. The shipment options required a pretty straightforward for both methods of shipping, with additional choices for delivery confirmation, signature confirmation, insurance, and other options.

Recently, I had a problem with my PayPal account telling me that my UPS address information didn’t match my PayPal information. When I logged into my UPS account and log into my PayPal account at the same time, my name and address information seemed to match perfectly. However, something was not in sync. Because of this problem, I was unable to directly print UPS labels from my PayPal account, which was a great inconvenience when shipping eBay items. Since I didn’t have a phone number for PayPal, I decided to try UPS first. After spending 20 minutes navigating UPS telephone directories, and waiting on hold, I spoke to a nice customer support Representative who told me I would have the contact PayPal to fix the problem. Fortunately, the UPS customer service representative had a direct telephone number for PayPal. When I called that number, they told me since I was a PayPal business customer, I could use a special toll-free number for PayPal Business account technical support. I waited on hold at PayPal for about seven minutes and when the customer service representative understood my problem, she said that sometimes the PayPal address information becomes out of sync with the UPS address up information and easiest way to fix it is to do the following:

1. Login to your PayPal account

2. Click the profile link below the row of navigation tags

3. Click the shipping preferences link in the selling preferences list of links

4. Scroll down to the section of the page heading the label UPS information, then click the remove UPS information link.

5. Once your UPS information is removed from your PayPal account, a screen will be displayed containing a form that will allow you to either think your PayPal account to your existing UPS account or to create a brand-new UPS account that can be used with your PayPal account.

As an aside, you should be aware that your UPS login is not the same as your UPS account number. You’ll either allow PayPal to create a UPS account number for you, or you can use an account that you manually created at UPS.com, and that is the number that will be linked to your PayPal account. However, the login ID you use at the UPS website is not your UPS account number. You’re UPS account number is six characters, or symbols, long. But you’re UPS login ID is completely different and doesn’t necessarily need to be six characters long.

When you have your PayPal account correctly linked with UPS and US Postal Service, you’ll find that creating postage-paid labels and shipping to your eBay buyers will be easier than ever before.

Thanks for the information. I had the conflict with my UPS account, so I deleted and created a new one. It shouldn’t have to be so difficult to carry on as normal…

By linking the UPS account, will that mean I will then not be paying for the shipping via paypal, but ultimately billed as I normally am via UPS?

    Thanks

Chuck’s answer: No, you’ll still be paying via paypal. “The UPS Special Pricing Program for eBay Sellers is available for packages processed through PayPal. “http://pages.ebay.com/sellerinformation/shipping/shippingfaqs.html#6

I end up removing the ups information, and re-creating my ups account. It takes more than a week to get the discounted rate when setting up a new account though, but you can ship packages right away though.
