How to Buy Furniture on eBay

Regardless of whether you are looking for brand new furniture or something second hand, eBay might just be the best source of the furniture you want.

If you have something very specific in mind, you can look for it by using the search box. Type in keywords that are relevant to that item and see what pops up. You can always refine your search terms if you get too many results.

Another way of looking for furniture for your home is to start by accessing the right category. If you take a look at the eBay home page you will see the categories section as a drop down menu on the left hand side. Select home and garden and then you will see all the different sub-categories you can find furniture in. You can then explore and see if there is anything you like.

Once you find something worth looking at in more detail, go into the listing itself and find out more about it. How many pictures are there? Are they of good quality? And remember, if you need to ask any questions simply send the seller a message and see what information they come back with. Never be afraid to ask a question! It might lead to a sale so you should expect a fairly quick and courteous reply. Anything less might give you doubts about buying from that seller.

In addition, check the seller details. Do they have good feedback? How high is their rating? You should also see where they are based – particularly if the item is listed as pick up only. If you intend to bid on it you should always check this first to avoid any nasty long distance surprises!

When you first start looking you might want to put any items you like the look of on your watch list. Look at the top right of the listing – you should see an invitation to ‘watch this item’. Click on that and then compile a shortlist for starters; you can then go back and decide which item you want to place a bid on.

Of course there are plenty of ‘buy it now’ items available as well, and if you want one of these items of furniture you should buy it when you see it. If you don’t you could miss out on a great bargain.

So there you have it – a quick and easy guide to buying furniture on eBay. Good luck!
